Forced Inheritance in Greece
Our inheritance lawyers have expertise in dealing with all types of inheritance disputes whether they involve assets located in Greece or abroad.
Under Greek inheritance law, certain relatives are entitled to a ‘compulsory share’ (nomimi moira) of the testator’s estate. If these relatives are left out of a will they can seek to challenge it under the forced inheritance provisions. The benefit of these provisions is limited to the spouse, children, and the parents of the testator.
But what is the amount of the ‘compulsory share’?
The amount of the compulsory share is depends ultimately on the number of the heirs and the value of the estate. Typically, the entitlement is calculated as half of the legal share that the heir in question would have been entitled under the rules of intestacy.
Our law Firm handles inheritance matters on a case by case basis in order to find the best solution for the particular circumstances, consistent with the particular objectives of our clients.
